Finished my second of two days of software training for the woman from that company in PEI I mentioned a few days ago. I think the training was productive -- she said I taught her a lot that she hadn't known before, which is good. But I was mentally exhausted at the end of the day today, and decided to shut down the computer, turn off the radio, and just be quiet for awhile. Later, I finished watching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and then returned the video, and then proceeded to Chapters to kill some time.

Picked up Tolle's The Power Of Now, an oft-quoted book on the lists and such. Found out he lives in Vancouver, for God's sake. And after reading the introduction and the first chapter, I almost wanted to change my ticket from Calgary to Vancouver tomorrow. From page ten:
The word enlightenment conjures up the idea of some superhuman accomplishment, and the ego likes to keep it that way, but it is simply your natural state of felt oneness with Being. It is a state of connectedness with something immeasurable and indestructible, something that, almost paradoxically, is essentially you and yet is much greater than you. It is finding your true nature beyond name and form. The inability to feel this connectedness gives rise to the illusion of separation, from yourself and from the world around you. You then perceive yourself, consciously or unconsciously, as an isolated fragment. Fear arises, and conflict within and without becomes the norm.
Fuckin' guy, eh? What a beautiful, clear statement of fact. An artful demystification of enlightenment if there ever was one. I'll bring this book along with Rushdie's Midnight's Children for reading on the plane. Now I'm looking even more forward to the flight. And of course, extremely psyched to see my girls, too. B said Z was playing strange with everyone since her arrival late Monday night, but today was a better day for her, despite B's having had to go to work to start her medical elective at the U of C. Can't wait to see that little monkey. I keep imagining hugging her and playing with her.
