Z and I are alone together again for the first time in a month. Lots of changes since we were last alone together, though -- now she can crawl all over the place and she's amusing herself quite well. I can't resist getting down on the floor with her to play frequently, though -- she is becoming more fun all the time.

Still tripping out on Tolle's book, but for different reasons: he has demystified enlightenment to such a degree that I barely find it worth talking about anymore. Exalting the ordinary is what he does, and while I have no complaints with that, I feel like the spice of seeking in any form has been removed for me. All I do is remain rooted in the moment and leave absolutely everything to nature. Removes all the guesswork I may have once had about what to do next, that's for sure.

Was deeply moved by an interview on CBC this morning with the great anti-nuclear activist, Dr Helen Caldicott. Her message is extremely severe, but also extremely important. Biographical info can be found here, and her new institute on nuclear policy research, which she founded to attack nuclear proliferation through the media, is at http://www.nuclearpolicy.org/. Her stated goal this morning was to eradicate the nukes in the US and Russia within the next 5 years. She doesn't think we have a lot more time than that.

One of the more interesting things she said was that she met face-to-face with Reagan in the 80s for 75 minutes, and that while he struck her as a kind old man with a good heart, he was not overly bright, and by her clinical estimation, held a relatively low IQ. Her read on the current US president is that his IQ is even lower, but that he completely lacks a moral conscience and has absolved himself of most of his presidential responsibilities by letting Cheney and Rumsfeld, arguably two extremely dangerous men, make most of his policy decisions for him. It would probably be a great thing if Bush lost the next election, but he probably won't.

I once fancied myself something of an activist by nature, but Caldicott's words this morning left me feeling silent and somewhat withdrawn. I'm not sure what to do in the face of such trouble; I feel like all I can do is make sure that I'm raising a mindful and peaceful daughter and that I vote consciously in every election.

In closing today, I'm going to repost the links contained in today's Nonduality News, which are primarily concerned with peace.
