The quality of language
Dec. 14th, 2000 02:00 pmThere are so many words in this book. Words are playtoys of the mind. You can make such a game of constructing them in different ways to create completely different entities with different meanings. However...
Words are meaningless with their inherent meaning in mind. Actually, wait - that's too vague. To clarify: anyone with a good understanding of how the language works can construct messages that people will understand. But is there a different quality to the language that strikes deeper than mere conversation or news? Does the essential quality of language change with more meaningful topics, as it were?
The answer of course, is no, it doesn't. How could it? It's a meaningless discussion, because language doesn't really represent Reality, it only describes our human-conceived notion of it.
Sometimes (a lot of the time, actually), I don't feel at all interested in living through these worldly, human experiences. I used to think that meant I was supposed to be a monk living on a hilltop somewhere, but I know that's not true. It probably has a lot more to do with how I should be approaching Living, instead.
