nothing much
Jun. 27th, 2001 11:35 pmHad a long-ish phone meeting with our new VP Operations today. He used to be an outside consultant for our company, and he was recently hired on in this previously (and always) vacant position. He's a very sensitive guy, and quite keen. He asked a lot of good questions and quickly assimilated what I had to say. Altogether a pleasant and productive exchange.
I entered the meeting with no advance preparation and spoke, as usual, out of instinct. I also tried to position my statements and assertions in a clear context politically, hoping to lay some groundwork for am eventual change in my responsibilities towards something at which I could be far more productive.
My boss, the one who's dying of cancer, has been in regular contact with the head office and with several of my colleagues (and even past ones), but he has seemingly been avoiding me for the past few weeks now. I felt bad about that, and upon this new VP's suggestion, re-initiated contact with him this afternoon. He was too busy to talk to me at the time (and also hadn't yet had time to review the results of The Task from last week), but hopefully I'll hear from him by the end of the week. Trying to get up to the head office with my close friend and co-worker J during July, which would be fun. He's never seen that city before, and we would undoubtedly have a good time. Especially at the eating places.

the realization sets in fully that there's nothing else to talk about
