Via [livejournal.com profile] starskin, you must read as much of Iggy Pop's tour rider as you can -- it's long, but very, very funny. Apparently typed up by a roadie, it's full of witty asides, jokes, and non-sequiturs that made me laugh out loud in parts.

And via [livejournal.com profile] gurugeorge, this fantastic article about how the GOP is stinking up the joint. Every paragraph has several high points, but here are some of my favourites:
Watching Republicans in Washington is like watching lemmings, if lemmings jumped into cesspools instead of off cliffs. Splash! There goes Mark Foley!

Social Security privatization was presented to the electorate with a public relations and marketing flair not seen since New Coke.

Immigration policy will fence the border, providing economic stimulus to the Mexican ladder industry.

Republican federal budgets have shown less self-restraint than Mark Foley's instant messaging.

[livejournal.com profile] monotony posted this earlier this morning and I loved it right away. With her permission, I'm quoting it here for anyone else who would like to read it.
What is a Woman But

What is a woman but a collection
of gospel melodies, trite tunes,
a butt, a breast, a birthday balloon
cupcakes in yellow chiffon
next to a well-anointed groom,
broom, afternoon kiss on concrete
whole songs leaking from fingers
the picturesque
grotesque
split in birth, intolerable hair
veil satire dare
tending the mending
light on her feet
able to balance on sticks or blocks
with one arm on a cart
another on a kid
it’s an entire symphony
to keep ahead
Great piece. Sensual and humourous, light to read yet containing meaningful, subtle undertones. Nice work.
