Man. The WorldCom thing scares me a bit, because they're like the world's biggest ISP, aren't they? What's going to happen to their services? Will the Internet suffer in general if they go under, which they almost seem certain to do? I guess no company is safe from lying cheats, huh? Four billion dollars in operating expenses was actually filed as capital expenditures. Capital expenditures would normally be outright purchases of some description which could be liquified for cash if the company went into receivership, but since these expenditures were actually just regular operating expenses, they're only expecting to get 15 cents on the dollar for that money. What was worth 4 billion dollars on their balance sheets yesterday is now worth $600 million.

In other news, Z has been a bit funny lately with what seems like chronic gas pain between feedings. She can be tough to handle when she's like that, because no position we can find is comfortable for her, and she keeps up this low-level crying and sad face throughout. Her sad face is incredible -- I keep missing it for the pictures, though. It's a good sad face, though. It shoots like an arrow straight for your heart.

I'm finally getting over being insulted that I can't comfort her in these times, though. Mom's breast is the only thing that will settle her when she gets really upset. It's understandable. She's only 7 weeks old today. But it was a bit hard for me to take in the beginning, that I wasn't able to do anything for her personally. Heh -- I always thought I could help anybody. But I think the subjects must possess at least minimum cognitive skills to benefit from my treatment. She only started really checking us out visually a couple weeks ago, and she still doesn't even recognize her own hand yet.

But she likes to look at herself in the mirror! She just doesn't know who it is, that's all. Ah, to be a baby, eh? Life is so simple. Simpler even than a dog, at this point.
