Flash mind reader

I can't figure out how this works, but it has worked consistently for me every time. At first, I thought I might be hovering my mouse over the image in question before clicking the crystal ball, but even when I leave my mouse in the same position over the ball while choosing my number, I still get the same result. I don't get it.
