Another day in the dark
Nov. 7th, 2000 08:00 pmWho am I? I am.
Today I watched some very agitated and angry exchanges between some stressed-out colleagues at work. I thought about it afterwards: have I really become the exception to the stressed-out worker-bee routine, or are they just overly stressed-out people? I just couldn't see the point in flying off the handle like that all the time. I was, and grow more so each day, completely unperturbed by what they felt was a high level of inherent stress in that situation. That stress was just lost on me - I simply couldn't feel it with them.
Been reading some books on business and selling lately. Struck by how much common sense is in them. I haven't read anything very revolutionary yet. I think that "Common Sense" is like a code that's based on ultimate reality. It's the key to living well and achieving success in this human life. Most of the key messages can be summed up by saying, "plan well, pay attention, follow an action plan, and alter it as required based on ongoing changes in the environment." Isn't that just basic survival?
So, how DO you unlock the secrets of success? In life, it's all pretty objective, I think. I you're really in tune, everything works out fine. Lay aside the psychobabble and - bask in the glory of pure philosophy.
I mean, really: what the hell else IS there?
nothing nothing nothing nothing nothing nothing
keep paying attention.
